Vince Harrison has been named the 20th manager in franchise history. The older brother of current MLB outfielder Josh Harrison, Vince returns to Kane County after serving as the hitting coach for the Double-A Jackson Generals who captured the 2018 Southern League Championship featuring many former Cougars including Gali Cribbs, Jared Miller and Justin Donatella. Throughout his career, he spent a portion of five Minor League seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets and Miami Marlins organizations.
Harrison's staff includes pitching coach Mike Parrott, hitting coach Micah Franklin, coach Carlos Mesa , along with returning athletic trainer Kelly Boyce as well as strength and conditioning coordinator Tim Queck.
Parrot comes to the Cougars for his 23rd season with the Diamondbacks after spending the last three seasons at Short-Season A Hillsboro. He pitched for parts of five season with Baltimore in 1977 and Seattle from 1978-81. Franklin is entering his third season with the D-backs as a coach after making his hitting coach debut in Hillsboro last year. Appearing in 17 games for the St. Louis Cardinals during the 1997 season, Franklin went on to serve as a pro scout for the Seattle Mariners from 2014-16. Mesa returns to the Cougars for his second consecutive season as a coach and his third with the D-backs. He spent six Minor League seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2011-13) and Boston Red Sox (2014-16).
