Ciudad de México (Prensa Diablos Rojos) 8 de febrero de 2022.- El lanzador Jordy Arias se une a la lista de los prospectos de los Diablos Rojos del México que son firmados por un equipo de Grandes Ligas, luego de signar con los Texas Rangers.
La firma del joven lanzador se dio en las instalaciones del Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú, donde Arias estuvo acompañado por el Maestro Jorge del Valle, Gerente Deportivo de los Diablos Rojos; Kwangmin Park, Supervisor Internacional de los Texas Rangers, Efraín Lara, scout en México de la novena ligamayorista y por sus padres, Ecmar Arias y Laura Cherris.
“Quiere agradecerle a todos los que me han ayudado para tener esta oportunidad, a la familia Harp por apoyarme en todo el proceso para llegar hasta aquí. Gracias, a Jorge del Valle, a Miguel Ojeda, a Iván Terrazas, quienes siempre me apoyaron y me ayudaron a crecer”, explicó Arias en su primera intervención.
Jordi fue firmado por los Diablos Rojos el 2 de mayo de 2019, con lo que se integró al equipo de alumnos de la Academia de Beisbol Alfredo Harp Helú en San Bartolo, Coyotepec, Oaxaca. En 2020 participó en la Copa ‘Juntos por México’, formando parte del equipo Alfredo Ortiz. El desempeño que mostró en este torneo, así como su evolución como lanzador, le abrió las puertas para formar parte de los Diablos Rojos en la Liga Invernal Mexicana (LIM) a finales del 2021, donde terminó como el líder de juegos ganados de la Zona Sur.
“Fue una gran experiencia para mí haber estado en la Liga. La verdad sentí que crecí mucho en ese tiempo, me sentí muy contento con lo que mostré y con la experiencia que viví porque me demostré a mi mismo de lo que soy capaz de hacer. Ahora doy un gran paso en mi carrera y el sueño sigue claro, llegar a Grandes Ligas”, explicó el joven pitcher de 16 años.
Su perfil como lanzador, más su desempeño y desarrollo arriba de la loma llamó la atención de los Rangers, quienes le abren la puerta para comenzar su camino hacia las Grandes Ligas.
“Es un día donde nos sentimos muy orgullosos en el equipo por integrar a Jordy al equipo. Vamos a apoyarlo para hacer que llegue a Grandes Ligas. Debe de trabajar duro y debe de mantenerse siendo una buena persona para que puedas alcanzar tu objetivo”, fueron las palabras de Par.
Jordy cumplió con labores de relevista con los Diablos en la LIM, torneo en el que mostró una recta de hasta 94 millas, con un notable cambio de velocidad y un slider sumamente efectivo, herramientas que le abren esta puerta.
“El objetivo de la Liga Invernal era este, que los jóvenes pudieran mostrarse. Apostábamos por la proyección de los jugadores y en invierno este fue nuestro objetivo y estamos muy contentos de seguir anunciando más firmas internacionales”, comentó Jorge del Valle.
ÉL ES JORDY ARIAS
Nació el 4 de agosto de 2005. A los 5 años de edad comenzó a jugar beisbol, impulsado por su tío Javier Salceda (quien fue prospecto de los Leones de Yucatán). Al inicio jugó básicamente como jardinero y su primer equipo se llamaba Sayayines de Nicolás Bravo.
Fue alrededor de los 11 años de edad cuando se dio cuenta de que quería ser jugador profesional. A los 14 años fue Seleccionado Estatal de Quintana Roo, campeón regional y medalla de bronce en la Olimpiada Nacional 2019. En ese mismo año (2 de mayo de 2019), fue firmado por los Diablos Rojos del México por el scout Arturo Vélez. En esos momentos todavía jugaba como jardinero pero ahí llegó el cambio a lanzador, posición en la que ya se había desempeñado. En su paso por la Academia de Beisbol ‘Alfredo Harp Helú’ trabajó con los instructores Miguel Ángel López, Salvador Robles, Luis Fernando Méndez y Javier Cruz.
Gracias a su desarrollo y talento, formó parte de la Copa ‘Juntos por México’, que se realizó a finales del 2020, jugando para el equipo Alfredo Ortiz. Su desempeño en el torneo le valió ser invitado a la pretemporada del equipo grande en 2021.
Gracias a su desarrollo y trabajo en la Academia, con 16 años de edad, fue integrado al roster de los Diablos Rojos que participaron en la Liga Invernal Mexicana (LIM), donde cumplió labores de relevo, terminando como Campeón de Juegos Ganados de la Zona Sur con tres triunfos.
VIDA PERSONAL- Es el menor de tres hijos de sus padres, Ecmar Arias y Laura Cherris. Su mayor ídolo en Grandes Ligas fue Yordano Ventura (pitcher dominicano que jugó cuatro años en MLB y falleció en enero del 2017).
