May 13, 2015

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (MAY 13, 2015) - On Wednesday morning at 10:57 a.m., Carolina League President John Hopkins issued a statement regarding this week's series between the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and the Carolina Mudcats.

The following is the statement:

For reasons related to Tuesday morning's bus wreck, the series between the Carolina Mudcats and Myrtle Beach Pelicans will not be played as scheduled. The three-game series was to begin Tuesday and continue through Thursday at Myrtle Beach's TicketReturn.com Field. The Mudcats team has returned to Zebulon where players and field staff will continue to be medically evaluated. Decisions on rescheduling will be made at a later time.

Anyone with tickets or vouchers for any of the three games in this series (Tuesday through Thursday, May 12-May 14) can exchange them for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any future Pelicans regular season game during the 2015 regular season or beyond, subject to availability.

The Pelicans expect to resume their 2015 campaign as scheduled on Friday in Zebulon, North Carolina at Five County Stadium against the Mudcats.

The club returns home on Tuesday, May 19, hosting the Frederick Keys for a three-game set.

The 2015 season marks the 17th season for the Pelicans franchise and first as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. For information on tickets to see the Pelicans in 2015, please call (843) 918-6000, e-mail [email protected], or visit www.MyrtleBeachPelicans.com.
