Hace 70 años, 45 carreras en un juego
El 17 de junio de 1945 el México y Monterrey protagonizaron un duelo que 70 años después, no ha logrado ser igualado o superado. En aquella ocasión la novena capitalina venció 29-16 a los regiomontanos convirtiéndose en el encuentro de nueve entradas con mayor carreraje combinado, y fue tal el despliegue ofensivo que se dio que para el 17 de junio de 2015, se mantiene en los libros de los récords.
Los Rojos habían ganado los dos primeros choques de la serie a los Industriales, el primero por una pizarra de 11-3 y el segundo con un 4-3, y los managers habían anunciado que para el juego dominical en el Parque Delta los abridores eran dos de los mejores extranjeros de la liga: Theolic Smith (local) y Lázaro Salazar (visitante).
Eran las 11:30 de la mañana del domingo 17 de junio cuando se cantó el playball al duelo en el estadio ubicado en Obrero Mundial y Calzada de La Piedad, con el que se iba a terminar la serie. Esta es la crónica (escrita por el redactor Raúl Mendoza) que se publicó en La Afición el lunes 18 de junio de 1945, retratando la historia con esta cabeza en la portada: "Rompiéndose tres récords México aplastó al Monterrey por 29-16".
"En un juego que resultó de mucha espectacularidad -no obstante que hubieron mucho palos y errores- los Rojos del México aplastaron al Monterrey de Salazar, con el abultado score de 29 carreras a 16.
A veces la gente se puso a bostezar, cuando el México llegó a sacar hasta 15 carreras de ventaja; pero el Monterrey hizo que la gente despertara, cuandoa punto de tolete fabricaron espeluznante rally de 11 carreras, abriéndose la séptima, lo que motivó que el juego se presentara difícil para los colorados, pues solo estaban arriba 20-16.
Pero en el cierre de ese episodio, el México le cayó a palos a Daniel Ríos -que en ese turno tomó el box- y antes de que los fans se repusieran de las emociones que tuvieron en el rally reinero de once carreras, los rojos ripostaron con uno de nueve, para que el panorama volviera a despejárseles.
De ahí en adelante ya no hubo más carreras -fueron sobradas- y la anotación final fue la que apuntamos; 29-16 favorable al color encarnado.
Por supuesto que durante el movido encuentro, el público se pasó mucho tiempo comentando que ese juego iba a dar lugar a que sus libros de récords de la Liga Mexicana sufrirían varias modificaciones, todas ellas tendientes a superación.
En efecto, durante ese tercer choque habido ayer entre Rojos e Industriales, se rompieron tres récodrs de nuestro mejor circuito y, al mismo tiempo, uno de ellos superó un récord de las Ligas Mayores Norteamericanas.
México impuso el de anotación más alta de un club en un juego. El equipo que hasta antes de ayer había logrado anotar más carreas en un juego de nueve innings, era el Veracruz, que el 1 de octubre de 1942 cometió una masacre a costillas de Alijadores, al que apaleó por 25-6.
Los Rojos le hicieron 29 carreras al Monterrey, o sea, que superaron el récord por cuatro carreras.
Se rompió el récord de más carreras por dos clubes en un inning, de la Liga Mexicana y de las Mayores.
Una cosa que sin duda va a causar sorpresa entre los aficionados de toda la República, es que entre los regiomontanos y los rojos, sentaron nuevo récord que supera al de las Ligas Mayores de Estados Unidos.
Nos referimos al de más carreras anotadas por dos equipos en un mismo inning.
El antiguo récord de la Liga Mexicana correspondía al Veracruz y a Alijadores, que en 1942, el 1 de octubre, cruzaron 16 veces en pentágono en el mismo inning. Veracruz anotó 15 carreas y Tampico solo una.
Ayer el Monterrey hizo su rally de 11 carreras y el México contestó con rally de nueve, para que en total sean 20 las carreras que se dieron en un episodio.
En la Liga Mexicana se empató el de más carreras por dos clubes en un juego.
Aparte de los récords que hemos enumerado, en el match de ayer se empató el récord de anotación más alta por dos clubes en un juego de nueve innings. La marca existente la impusieron Veracruz y Puebla el 10 de abril de 1941. En juego celebrado aquí entre Veracruz y Puebla, que ganó el primero por 24 carreras a 21. La suma da 45 carreras por dos equipos en un juego de nueve entradas, y esa misma cifra arrojan las 29 y las 16 carreras que anotaron México y Monterrey.
