Jenkins, Braves Shutout Bulls, 5-0

Rookie Tosses Eight Scoreless; Bulls Drop 9 Back In South

Lawrenceville, GA --- Tyrell Jenkins tossed eight scoreless innings in just his fourth Triple-A start, leading the Gwinnett Braves past the Durham Bulls 5-0 at Coolray Field on Monday night.

Jenkins (W, 2-1), a Double-A all-star with Mississippi, allowed just two hits and two walks over his longest start of the season. With 97 pitches, he was not permitted to attempt the nine-inning shutout, which he has accomplished only once in his career back in 2013 in the Midwest League.

Bradin Hagens (L, 1-2) pitched well in defeat for Durham (51-52), surrendering one run in the fith across his five innings. Andrew Bellatti worked the next 2 1/3, allowing four runs on six hits as the Braves (52-50) opened up a 5-0 lead.

Resulting from the loss, Durham fell below .500 for the first time since they were 21-22 on May 21st, and lost for the seventh time in nine games on their current 11-game road trip.

Luke Maile and Taylor Motter had the Bulls' two hits, while Gwinnett catcher Christian Bethancourt delivered three doubles.

The series continues Tuesday night with Matt Andriese (2-1, 1.84) opposing Mike Foltynewicz (1-6, 3.49) at 6:35 PM ET.
