June 24, 2016
JUPITER, Fla. (June 24, 2016) - Niko Goodrum led a 13-hit barrage with a four-hit night in a 5-1 victory for the Fort Myers Miracle over the Jupiter Hammerheads at Roger Dean Stadium on Friday night.

The Miracle jumped out to an early lead in the second inning. With one out, Max Murphy lined a single into center field off Jupiter starter Dillon Peters. Trey Vavra by slicing a 3-2 pitch into right center and Murphy advanced to third. After Peters (5-5) struck out Joe Maloney, Tanner Witt poked a singled through the right side to plate Murphy. Brian Navarreto followed with a bouncing ball single up the middle and Vavra came home, 2-0.

Jupiter cut a run off the Miracle lead in the bottom half of the second. Brad Haynal dribbled a base hit up the middle and moved to second base on a bloop single into left by Chris Hoo. Miracle starter Felix Jorge then got consecutive fly outs from Avery Romero and Brian Schales, but Rehiner Cordova singled into right to score Haynal, 2-1.

In the top of the third, the Miracle regained a two-run advantage. With one out, Goodrum doubled into left center field. With Chris Paul at the plate, Goodrum swiped third base. Paul then hit a 2-1 pitch from Peters to right field. John Norwood made the catch, but Goodrum tagged and scored to boost the Miracle lead to 3-1.

Jorge (7-3) delivered another quality start, his 11th in 12 appearances, with six innings of one run baseball. Striking out three with no walks, Jorge scattered five hits and lowered his FSL-leading ERA to 1.58.

Brandon Peterson tossed a scoreless seventh out of the bullpen and Yorman Landa tallied a perfect eighth.

In the top of the ninth, the Miracle pulled away with two more runs. T.J. White led off with a single off Hammerheads reliever Travis Ballew, but was retired when Edgar Corcino hit into a force play. Cordova's throw back to first in a double play attempt sailed into the Miracle dugout and Corcino was awarded second base. Goodrum stepped up and laced his third double and fourth hit of the night into the gap in right center. Corcino rounded third and crossed home.

Ballew then got Paul to fly out to center, but Goodrum advanced to third base. Murphy came to the plate and squibbed a side-spinning ball back to the mound. The ball bounced oddly around Ballew on the rubber for an infield hit and Goodrum scored, 5-1.

Goodrum finished the night 4-for-5 with three doubles, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

Landa returned for a scoreless ninth to nail down his fifth save of the season.
