Dodgers Even Playoff Series with Sounds

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers evened their American Conference Finals series against the Nashville Sounds with a 5-2 win in Game 2 Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The playoff victory marked Oklahoma City's first since 2008 and ended a stretch of 12 consecutive playoff losses for the team.

O'Koyea Dickson drove in three runs and hit his second home run of the playoffs for Oklahoma City, while Micah Johnson scored three times and tripled as both players recorded two hits to lead the Dodgers offense.

Dodgers starting pitcher Logan Bawcom (1-0) held the Sounds to one run and three hits over six innings in the win. He allowed two walks and six strikeouts. He also retired 12 of the final 13 batters he faced.

Nashville, which one Game 1 Wednesday night, grabbed the early lead Thursday.

Matt Olson hit a RBI single into left field to give the Sounds a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Oklahoma City quickly answered. Johnson led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk. He stole second base, then advanced to third base on a fly out by Chris Taylor.

Dickson came up to bat next and hit a deep fly ball to the wall in center field for a sacrifice fly to bring home Johnson and tie the game, 1-1.

In the third inning, Dickson hit a two-out, two-run homer on a fly ball that fell just beyond the fence in left field to land on the Budweiser Deck and put the Dodgers in front, 3-1. The homer was Dickson's second of the playoffs.

In the fifth inning, Jack Murphy belted a solo home run into the Dodgers bullpen in left-center field to push Oklahoma City ahead, 4-1. Johnson followed with a triple, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Taylor to push the Dodgers' lead to 5-1 in the fifth inning.

Pitchers Sam LeCure and Joe Broussard followed Bawcom on the mound for Oklahoma City and combined for two scoreless and hitless innings.

After seven scoreless frames, Nashville's offense broke through against Dodgers pitcher Jacob Rhame.

BJ Boyd singled toward first base to bring home the Sounds' second run of the night and cut Oklahoma City's lead to 5-2.

Four Oklahoma City pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts in the game as the Dodgers tied the series, 1-1.

Nashville starting pitcher Dillon Overton, who is from Weatherford, Okla., allowed five runs and seven hits over five innings with one walk and four strikeouts in the loss.

The playoff series between the teams now shifts to Nashville, Tenn. for Games 3-5. Game 3 takes place at 7:05 p.m. Friday at First Tennessee Park.
