Right-handed reliever Malcom Culver has re-signed with the Kansas City Royals according to Baseball America's Transactions page.

The 26-year-old compiled a 4-5 record and 3.86 ERA (29 ER/67.2 IP), adding six saves with 60 strikeouts while appearing in 44 contests, the most of any Storm Chasers hurler. He was honored as Omaha's Pitcher of the Month for the month of July after recording a 1-1 mark and 1.54 ERA (2 ER/11.2 IP) over eight outings, adding three saves in five chances.

Culver also shared the Storm Chasers' 2016 Johnny Rosenblatt Community Service Award with fellow pitcher John Lannan for his contributions with the organization's efforts in the Omaha Metro by volunteering time with various events. Those events included reading to students at local area schools and serving with non-profit organizations such as Open Door Mission and the Ronald McDonald House.

The righty finished the 2016 campaign strong, accumulating a 2.42 ERA (6 ER/22.1 IP) over his final 17 appearances after recording a 4.57 ERA (23 ER/45.1 IP) in his first 27 outings. He did not yield an earned run in 13 of his final 18 outings with the Storm Chasers.

Culver also appeared in three contests with Omaha in 2014 and has combined for a 4-6 record and 4.04 ERA (32 ER/71.1 IP) in 47 appearances, including one start. He has fanned 63 batters and accrued a 1.47 WHIP in his 71.1 innings of work.

Through his first seven minor league seasons, the righty has tallied a 19-24 record and 4.13 ERA (174 ER/379.0 IP) through 227 career appearances. He has also notched 33 saves while finishing 110 games. Culver began his minor league career as a position player, owning a .218 career batting average (100-459) along with seven longballs and 46 RBI.
