Bulls Pound 16 Hits, Beat Rochester; Longo Removed
Leslie Anderson, Reid Brignac and Brandon Allen each had three hits, while Matt Mangini homered to lead the Bulls (31-41).
The win, which pushed the Bulls to 3-2 on their eight-game road trip, was overshadowed by Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria's being removed from his major league rehab assignment prior to his at-bat in the third inning. During his first at-bat, Longroia smashed a grounder down the third base line, which was stopped by Danny Valencia and converted into an out at first base.
In the Bulls second inning, Matt Mangini sliced a home run into the left field bleachers to give Jim Paduch (W, 3-5) a 1-0 lead. In the third, the Bulls scored four, two-out runs. Anderson bounced a single to center to score a run, followed by a double to right by Allen and a two-run double to center by Brignac for a 5-0 lead.
Brignac drove in a season-tying three runs in the victory.
Paduch, who notched his first win since May 17th, pitched six innings, allowing just one run while whiffing five.
Ryan Reid worked three innings to record his first save of the season, permitting one hit and facing the minimum nine batters.
The Bulls continue their series with the Red Wings Tuesday night at 7:05 PM ET against the Red Wings.
