Where Are They Now: Tyler Henson
Tyler Henson was drafted by the Orioles in the fifth round of the 2006 First Year Player Draft. He spent the 2006 season with Rookie-level Bluefield and played for Short-Season Aberdeen in 2007, batting .289 with 18 doubles and 31 RBI in 67 games.
The Oklahoma City native spent the 2008 season with Single-A Delmarva and the 2009 season with Advanced-A Frederick as he continued to work his way through the system. Henson was used primarily as an infielder before spending some time in left field with Frederick for the first time in his professional career.
Henson spent the 2010 season in Bowie and was one of the top offensive threats on the team. He batted .278 with 37 doubles, 12 home runs and 60 RBI. His 37 doubles were the fourth most in a single season in franchise history. Henson moved up to Triple-A Norfolk in 2011, where he hit .247 with 18 doubles and 36 RBI.
At the end of the 2011 season during the Winter Meetings, Henson was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of the deal that brought pitcher Dana Eveland to Baltimore. Henson spent the majority of this past season with Triple-A Albuquerque where he improved his batting average to .284 with nine doubles and 24 RBI in 53 games.
