Chiefs Edge Bulls In Road Trip Opener, 2-1

Syracuse, NY --- The Syracuse Chiefs pushed across two runs in the sixth to crack a scoreless game and claim the opener of a four-game set, defeating the Durham Bulls 2-1 on Saturday night.
Alex Colome (L, 1-3) had limited the Chiefs (9-13) to one hit over the first five innings before he permitted four straight singles to open the sixth. Former Bull Will Rhymes singled to right to score Eury Perez with the first run of the game. An infield single by Chris Marrero brought Jeff Kobernus home for a 2-0 lead.
The Bulls (15-8) pushed across an unearned run in the ninth against closer Erik Davis, but Wil Myers struck out as the tying run to end the game, and snap his 10-game hitting streak. Rich Thompson opened the ninth by walking, stealing second and advancing to third on a throwing error. Jason Bourgeois' grounder scored Thompson.
Colome worked six innings, allowing five hits, two walks and fanned six.
Danny Rosenbaum (W, 2-1) fired seven scoreless innings, yielding just three hits to the Bulls. Erik Davis (S, 2) notched the save, allowing an unearned run in the ninth, striking out Vince Belnome and Myers to end the game.
Belnome's nine-game hitting streak was also snapped. The Bulls managed just three hits, a season low.
The four-game series with Syracuse continues Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM ET with JD Martin (1-1, 4.50) starting against Ross Ohlendorf (2-2, 5.82).
