Bloxom Homers in 11-3 Loss at Trenton

July 30, 2013

Trenton, NJ - Justin Bloxom homered, but the rest of the Senators offense struggled, as the Trenton Thunder took the series opener 11-3 at Arm & Hammer Park.

The Thunder jumped ahead right away with single runs in the first three innings. Jose Pirela delivered an RBI single in the first, Carmen Angelini made it a 2-0 game with a leadoff home run in the second, and Andrew Clark added to the lead on an RBI single in the third.

Bloxom's homer, his seventh of the season, came leading off the fourth. He added a double and single later in the game. Ricky Hague also had a two-bagger for Harrisburg, as did Jimmy VanOstrand, who drove in a pair.

Trenton sent 11 men to the plate and broke open the game with a five-run seventh inning. Kyle Roller blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to put the icing on the cake for the Thunder.

Rob Gilliam tossed five innings and gave up six hits and three runs. The right-hander walked two and struck out four, taking the loss.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Senators continue their three-game set in Trenton against the Thunder. Game time is 12:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 11:50 a.m.
