Iowa jumpstarted its' scoring in the second inning, loading the bases with no outs on singles from Dominguez and Caratini and a walk from Weeks. Davis cashed in for the I-Cubs, roping a two-RBI double to center field to put Iowa ahead. In the following frame, four consecutive singles plated another two to give Iowa a 5-0 lead.
The I-Cubs' offense quieted as Las Vegas reduced its' deficit with two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh. The 51s pulled within a run in the ninth, but the I-Cubs halted the effort in time.
Iowa and Las Vegas wrap up the series at 9:05 p.m. CT tomorrow at Cashman Field. The I-Cubs return to Principal Park on Friday to begin an eight-game homestand against Tacoma and Reno. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
