FRISCO, Texas (June 2, 2021)Cole Winn piloted the Frisco RoughRiders to a 3-0 win over the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Wednesday night from Riders Field.

The RoughRiders (15-9) received their second-straight brilliant start as Winn (2-1) went six innings, earning the win and allowing just one hit while striking out seven and walking three. Fernery Ozuna then fired a scoreless inning and Stephen Villines threw the last two innings to earn his first save of the year. It was the RoughRiders fifth shutout of the season, the most in Minor League Baseball.

On offense, the Riders plated the only runs they would need in the second inning.

Jax Biggers started the scoring with an RBI double, scoring Diosbel Arias, to give the Riders a 1-0 advantage. Two batters later, Trace Loehr knocked in two runs with a single on his first Riders hit to vault Frisco to a 3-0 lead.

In a losing effort, Luis Frias (1-2) went four innings in his start for Amarillo (11-15), which has lost five-straight games.

The Riders continue their six-game series against the Sod Poodles with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch on Thursday, June 3rd. LHP Sal Mendez (2-0, 3.14) makes his first start for Frisco against LHP Tommy Henry (1-1, 4.76).
