Mickey Moniak turned in his first multi-hit game of the season on Thursday, but the Charlotte Stone Crabs plated six runs in the second inning to hand the Threshers a 10-3 loss in the series finale at Charlotte Sports Park.
Moniak finished 3-for-5 with three singles, while Austin Listi singled in the sixth to extend his on-base streak to nine.
Charlotte (6-8) took command early, jumping on starter Adonis Medina (1-2) for six runs on three hits, two walks, and a hit batter in the second inning.
Clearwater (3-11) got on the board in the third, when Luke Williams, Jose Gomez, Moniak, and Arquimedes Gamboa all reached on consecutive singles off starter Kenny Rosenberg (1-0). The lefty would settle in to strike out the next two he faced and limit the Threshers to just a run.
The Stone Crabs grabbed two more against reliever Ismael Cabrera in the bottom half, on David Olmedo-Barrera's second home run of the season.
Jose Pujols went deep for the Threshers in the fourth, sending one out to right-center on a 1-0 offering for his fourth home run of the year.
Charlotte continued to tack on with another pair of runs off Cabrera in the fifth to make it 10-2. Clearwater's final run came in the sixth on Williams' sacrifice fly.
Blake Quinn worked a scoreless seventh inning in relief, and has not permitted a run in 10 innings of work this year.
Clearwater will head to Tampa on Friday to battle the Tarpons at 6:30 p.m. with lefty McKenzie Mills (0-1) on the bump against right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga (2-0). The game will be broadcast live on threshersbaseball.com beginning at 6:15 p.m.
