STOCKTON, Calif.- Major League Baseball's 2017 American League Rookie of the Year, Home Run Derby Champion, American League All-Star, and Silver Slugger. That's one way to earn yourself the creation of your own hometown-themed bobblehead.
The Stockton Ports are excited to announce that Friday, May 18th will be Linden Night, complete with an Aaron Judge bobblehead giveaway. The bobblehead will feature Judge in a Linden High School baseball jersey, the school in which he graduated from and was a three-sport star.
"The Ports look forward to an amazing night honoring Aaron and his accomplishments, both with the Yankees as well as here locally with Linden High School," said General Manager Bryan Meadows. "We would like to thank Aaron and his family for their cooperation with this night and are thrilled to be able to team up to give back to the Linden High School baseball program."
In addition to the bobblehead itself, which will be given out to the first 1,000 fans through the gates that night, the Ports and Judge family have decided to donate $1 of every ticket sold from the May 18th game back to the Linden High School Baseball Team.
"Aaron Judge is a great role model for all of the young people in our community. He is incredibly humble even after his great rookie season," said Linden High School Head Baseball Coach Aaron Sanders. "Aaron loves to deflect the spotlight from him and talk about teammates and others who have contributed to his team's success. Everyone in Linden couldn't be happier for Aaron, and we are so proud of the man he has grown up to be."
Aaron Judge was born and raised in Linden, Calif. and later attended California State University, Fresno before being drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. Judge made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 2016 and had a historic 2017 rookie season, racking up an American League leading 52 home runs and finished second in the American League MVP Award voting.
The Stockton Ports' Opening Night is scheduled for Thursday, April 5th vs. the Lake Elsinore Storm. Ports ticket memberships, group tickets, and mini-plans are currently available for purchase online at stocktonports.com or by calling the Ports front office at (209) 644-1900. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
