LAKE ELSINORE, CA -
Visalia (56-69/19-26) rebounded from a 2-1 deficit in the third by plating a pair of runs to take the lead for good. With two on and one out, Storm catcher
Varsho added on again by singling into right with two on in the fifth to give Visalia an insurance run and a 4-2 lead.
Bain (W, 2-1) recovered after giving up a pair of runs in the second and locked down the Storm for the remainder of his start. He set down seven Lake Elsinore hitters in a row between the third and fifth innings and retired the final four batters he faced in a row. He struck out one hitter and did not issue a walk.
Varsho aided Bain's effort by gunning down would-be base stealers to end the second and third innings and Chisholm made a great running catch on a flare to left hit by Jorge Oña in the fourth.
Then Brill (SV, 1) fed
Lake Elsinore (56-59/22-23) used only two pitchers:
Mitchell (L, 0-2) tossed four innings and surrendered three runs, two earned, on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts, all of which came in the first inning. Lawson tossed the final five innings and held the Rawhide to one run on five hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
Mitchell and Lawson combined to induce five double plays from Visalia tonight, tying their season-high mark that was set in Lake Elsinore on July 7.
Every Rawhide hitter collected a hit and Mark Karavitois paced the offense with a pair of singles. He also walked twice and scored a run.
The Rawhide will look for their first second-half road series win tomorrow night, turning to LHP
