The River Cats struck first with a three-spot in the second, highlighted by C Tim Federowicz 's RBI double and a run-scoring knock from CF Slade Heathcott . Omaha answered back in the bottom of the third with a trio of tallies thanks to RBI singles from Cuthbert and LF Jorge Soler , with Cuthbert later coming across on a forceout to even the score at 3-3.
After Sacramento grabbed a 4-3 advantage in the fourth, Storm Chasers C Brayan Peña drew the contest even with an run-scoring single to right two innings later. After Omaha pitchers set down 11 consecutive batters, the River Cats took the lead for the final time in the eighth, courtesy of Shaw's two-out opposite field solo shot to left.
Heathcott (3-4, RBI) recorded a game-high three hits, joined by 3B Jae-Gyun Hwang (2-4, R, HR, RBI) in posting a multi-hit effort. Cuthbert (2-5, R, RBI) and Pena (2-4, RBI), along with CF Billy Burns (2-4, R, BB, 2 SB), also tallied two knocks apiece for the Storm Chasers.
Neither team's starting pitcher, Omaha's Eric Skoglund (6.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, ER, BB, 7 K) nor Sacramento's Roberto Gomez (5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K) factored in the final decisions. River Cats reliever Reyes Moronta (1.0 IP, 2 H, K) earned his first victory, while Tyler Rogers (2.0 IP, H, BB, 3 K) notched a two-inning save. Storm Chasers reliever Kevin Lenik (2.0 IP, H, R, ER, BB, 2 K) suffered the defeat.
The two teams are set to conclude their four-game series on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 2:0 p.m. CT at Werner Park. LHP Onelki Garcia (4-2, 4.50) is slated to climb the hill for Omaha, while Sacramento is expected to send RHP Jose Flores (1-1, 3.86) to toe the rubber.
