Portland, Maine- The Sea Dogs (14-8) extended their win streak to five games with a 5-4 win over the Reading Fightin Phils (13-10) on Thursday night at Hadlock Field. The Sea Dogs exploded for five runs in the second inning - all with two outs - off of Fightins starter Tyler Viza

Portland, Maine- The Sea Dogs (14-8) extended their win streak to five games with a 5-4 win over the Reading Fightin Phils (13-10) on Thursday night at Hadlock Field.
 
The Sea Dogs exploded for five runs in the second inning - all with two outs - off of Fightins starter Tyler Viza (L, 1-3). Joseph Monge hit a bases loaded double off the Maine Monster to give Portland a 2-0 lead, then Danny Mars followed with another two-run double to make it 4-0. Josh Tobias made it three-straight RBI hits with a single and it was 5-0 Sea Dogs

Teddy Stankiewicz (W, 1-0) recorded his fourth quality start in five outings this season. Stankiewicz allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings while walking one and striking out five.  
 
Reading began to climb back into the game on an RBI single by Malquin Canelo in the third inning. Andrew Pullin drove in a run on a groundout in the fifth off of Stankiewicz to cut the deficit to 5-2.  
 
Jake Cosart entered the game in the seventh and struggled with command, walking four of the six batters he faced to make it a 5-3 game. Austin Maddox (S, 2) came on and hit Aaron Brown off the foot to plate another run and cut the Sea Dogs' lead to one run.
 
Reading finished 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 men. Portland finished 4-for-9 and left nine on base.
The Sea Dogs and Fightins play a doubleheader tomorrow night at Hadlock Field, first pitch in game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM. Jalen Beeks (3-1, 1.99) takes the mound in game one for Portland against Shane Watson (2-0, 3.72) for Reading.
