COMSTOCK PARK, MI-- The Beloit Sky Carp couldn't generate the offense needed to take game three of a six-game series with West Michigan, losing 13-3 Thursday night.
The Whitecaps cored a pair of runs in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth and a run in the fifth before closing the game out with a five-run eighth inning.
Will Banfield hit his second home run of the season to provide the offensive highlight of the evening for Beloit. Banfield's blast was a two-run shot that came in the top of the sixth inning. It cut the West Michigan lead to 8-2.
Banfield later added an RBI double in the eighth inning to cut the deficit to 8-3.
Matt Givin got the start and took the loss, allowing seven runs (all earned) in 3 2-3 innings of work.
The two teams will do battle again Friday, with the game beginning at 10 a.m. central time.
