On the mound, Thomas was tremendous. Setting a new career high with 11 strikeouts, Thomas becomes just the second South Bend Cub ever to strike out 11. With all three of his pitches gelling early on, he kept Dayton guessing throughout his 6.2 innings worked.
Thomas finished his evening with 92 pitches and 65 strikes. He improves his record to 3-5. Allowing just two runs on five hits, the southpaw has been one of the most consistent arms in the South Bend rotation in 2018.
