LOWELL, MA - In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Lowell Spinners, proud affiliate of the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox, trailed 5-0, but Gilberto Jimenez got them on the board when launched his third home run over the right field wall - making it 5-1

The Spinners (37-32) even loaded up the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning, but all three runners were stranded as they fell to the Aberdeen IronBirds, affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles by a final of 5-1.
The IronBirds (39-29) got on the board first when Andrew Fregia lined a ball under the glove of a diving Jimenez to the center field fence for a three-run inside the park home run. Kyle Stowers increased his guy's lead when he was retired on an RBI groundout to Lowell second baseman Cameron Cannon .

Aberdeen put the final nail on Lowell's coffin when Ian Evans and Joseph Ortiz swapped places on an RBI double - making it 5-0 at the time.

Aldo Ramirez got the start for the Spinners, but he was charged with the loss - falling to 1-2 on the season in 13 starts on the year. On Monday night, however, Ramirez went 6.0 innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on five hits. He also racked up six strikeouts without issuing a walk.

Yusniel Padron-Artilles  was the only man out of the bullpen and went 3.0 innings allowing one run on two hits. He too racked up four strikeouts without issuing a walk.

The Spinners are back on Tuesday night, looking to avoid the sweep - first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
