Spinners Five Hits Not Enough In 5-1 Loss

LOWELL, MA - In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Lowell Spinners, proud affiliate of the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox, trailed 5-0, but Gilberto Jimenez got them on the board when launched his third home run over the right field wall - making it 5-1
The Spinners (37-32) even loaded up the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning, but all three runners were stranded as they fell to the Aberdeen IronBirds, affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles by a final of 5-1.
The IronBirds (39-29) got on the board first when
Aberdeen put the final nail on Lowell's coffin when
Aldo Ramirez got the start for the Spinners, but he was charged with the loss - falling to 1-2 on the season in 13 starts on the year. On Monday night, however, Ramirez went 6.0 innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on five hits. He also racked up six strikeouts without issuing a walk.
The Spinners are back on Tuesday night, looking to avoid the sweep - first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
