Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes returned home to a large Friday night crowd at LoanMart Field and strung together four home runs to rally against the JetHawks in a 7-4 win.
Dodger LHP Julio Urías headlined the night on major league rehab assignment and manager Drew Saylor surpassed a twenty-year record with the win.
Urias allowed a solo home run to Tyler Nevin in the second inning and was lifted from the game after 28 pitches and 1.2 innings. The lefty allowed just the one run, two hits and struck out two in a no-decision.
Lancaster would score in three consecutive innings early on, adding a run in the third and the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.
Antonio Santos allowed just two hits and stranded a pair of runners over four innings before slipping in the fifth. Carlos Rincon and Hamlet Marte drilled back-to-back solo home runs to put Rancho on the board trailing 3-2. Rincon's home run was his sixth over the last four games.
Santos (2-2) entered on in the sixth but did not record an out. Cristian Santana and Cody Thomas opened with consecutive singles and Omar Estevez smashed a go-ahead three-run home run to make it 5-3.
With Alexander Guillen into the game, Jeren Kendall singled and scored on a Rincon groundout and Marte added his second home run of the game to cap a five-run inning.
Connor Strain entered on the fifth and retired eight straight out of the bullpen while becoming the beneficiary of the 7-3 lead. Strain (2-2) surrendered a solo home run to Bret Boswell in the seventh before Michael Boyle came on in the ninth and closed the game with the save.
The win gives Saylor his 224th career victory, making the third-year skipper the all-time winningest manager in franchise history, passing Mike Basso of the '96-'98 seasons.
The Quakes will look to clinch the series against Lancaster on Saturday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. RHP Max Gamboa (1-1) will start for the Quakes opposite RHP Matt Dennis (7-11) of Lancaster.
