The health and safety of our guests, employees, players, coaches, and training staff is the top priority for the Norfolk Tides Baseball Club. The Tides are committed to practice the best and safest efforts to keep the community safe when attending baseball games and other events at Harbor Park.
The steps outlined below are intended to protect our guests, employees, players, coaches, and training staff. We will continue to follow the guidance of local, regional, and national health and government agencies, and commit to develop policies and procedures for safely hosting various events at Harbor Park. The input of the Baltimore Orioles, Major League Baseball, and both local and regional health partners will play a significant role in informing the policies below, which may change and adapt as needed.
The Norfolk Tides COVID-19 plan was created with these principles in mind:
- Social Distancing and Masking – Making sure all Harbor Park seating and congregation points allow for six feet of social distancing in accordance with local, regional, and national protocols. Requiring all guests and staff to wear face masks, properly covering the nose and mouth, at all times unless seated in their assigned seat, eating or drinking.
- Minimal Contact and Decreased Touch Points – Instituting new policies that reduce guests’ exposure to surfaces, including strongly encouraged use of Mobile Tickets, digital-only Gameday Programs, encouraging cashless payments where possible throughout the ballpark, and other initiatives.
- Sanitization – Making sure all areas of Harbor Park undergo enhanced cleaning and sanitizing before guests enter, following the protocols set by local, regional, and national health and government agencies.
Harbor Park and the Norfolk Tides have implemented a series of health and sanitization policies and procedures for the safety of our fans, players and staff. These policies have been developed to align with the CDC, Major League Baseball and the State of Virginia/City of Norfolk Health Department guidelines.
In accordance with Major League Baseball and the State of Virginia policies, all Guests age 2 years and older, as well as all staff, are required at all times to wear face masks, over their nose and mouth, on ballpark property other than when actively eating or drinking at their ticketed seat.
We are inviting fans back at a reduced capacity to help maintain physical distancing. The health and safety of our fans is our priority, but we are also counting on you to help keep everyone else in the ballpark safe. Appropriate physical distancing must be maintained at all times between fans, except members of the same household or those that attend together.
Seating options will be limited to allow for social distancing and to provide proper spacing between groups. Seating will be primarily sold in pods of 2, 4 or 6 seats in the seating bowl. Spacing markers will be used for guests queued in lines.
Credit and debit cards will be the preferred forms of payment accepted. All concessions locations will feature streamlined menu options in order to speed up service and minimize lines. Condiment Stations will be temporarily closed, individual condiments will be available at concession stands upon request. Eating and drinking will only be allowed while fans are seated, not allowed on the concourse or at bars.
Mobile/Digital is strongly encouraged. Mobile/Digital ticketing provides a safe, convenient and secure way for fans to use and share game tickets. It also helps prevent lost, forgotten and fraudulent tickets and provides a contactless entry solution for all fans coming through the gates at Harbor Park.
All high-traffic touchpoints within Harbor Park will be disinfected with increased frequency prior to, during and after events. Hand sanitizing stations for public and staff use have been added to high-traffic areas.
Hand sanitizer will be liberally placed in easily accessible public areas and fans will be encouraged by staff and appropriately placed signage to practice hand hygiene. Employees will follow hand-hygiene practices and are required to wash hands frequently.
If you are experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or other symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, please stay home and we welcome you to join us again in the future.
Walkways, concourses and queue lines will have signage to direct guests to ensure proper social distancing, including some areas of one-way pedestrian traffic. Restrooms with multiple entrances will be assigned a one-way entrance and exit.
