Rubber Game After Trading Two Close Ones - The Pawtucket Red Sox and the Louisville Bats (AAA-Cincinnati) play the rubber game of their 3-game series tonight at 7:05 pm at Louisville Slugger Field. The PawSox won the opener on Tuesday night, 3-2 but last night suffered another in a series of recent gut-wrenching losses as they scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th to take a 5-2 lead only to see Louisville rally for 4 runs in the bottom half of the send the Sox to a 6-5 defeat. Pawtucket has now lost 10 of their last 12 1-run decisions since July 6 (and are thus 18-19 in 1-run games this season). The PawSoxare 13-19-4 in their 36 series this season (13 wins, 19 losses, and 4 splits) pending tonight's result.
Sad Endings - Last night marked the 10th time the PawSox have lost a game in the opponent's final at-bat since July 17 (in their last 21 games). Pawtucket had suffered just 5 losses in the final at-bat of a game previously during their first 92 games of the season. Furthermore, the Pawsox have dropped 10 of their last 12 road games since July 17 and 8 of those 10 defeats have occurred during the opposition's last AB of the game. During this span the Sox have lost games in the bottom of the 11th-inning, bottom of the 9th, bottom of the 8th, bottom of the 9th, bottom of the 10th, top of the 10th, bottom of the 13th, bottom of the 12th, top of the 9th, and bottom of the 8th.
