Pensacola Blue Wahoos Homestand Highlights June 29th - July 3rd
Three to Watch on the Jacksonville Suns:
#11 J.T. Realmuto, C:
J.T. Realmuto is back with the Suns after a short stint up in the big leagues. Realmuto played seven games with the Marlins, hitting .200 while notching five RBIs. The catcher's batting average would be top ten in the league, but he doesn't have enough at bats to qualify. Realmuto is the 10th best prospect in Miami's system and scouts figure he'll be ready to help the Marlins in the big leagues by 2015.
#16 Austin Barnes, C:
Austin Barnes was transferred to the Suns when J.T. Realmuto was recalled by the Marlins at the beginning of June. With Barnes, the Suns have two catchers that are in the top 20 of the Marlins system. Barnes was called up thanks to a stellar first half of the season with High-A Jupiter that earned him a spot as a Florida State All-Star. He hit .317 with 1 HR and 14 RBI through 44 games to begin the year.
#33 Nick Wittgren, RHP:
Nick Wittgren is the 18th best prospect in the Marlins system and figures to be a late-inning set up man in the majors. Wittgren led the Florida State League in saves (25) in 2013 and has been in the top five for most of the season in the Southern League. His fastball stays between 90-93 mph, but it works well because of his natural deception.
