Sea Dogs defeat Rumble Ponies 5-1

Casas extends hit streak to eight games, Gomez extends scoreless streak to 11 games

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs (55-36) defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (41-50) 5-1 Friday night at Hadlock Field before a crowd of 6,202. The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Casas singled, moved to third on a Ronaldo Hernandez double, and scored on a ground

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs (55-36) defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (41-50) 5-1 Friday night at Hadlock Field before a crowd of 6,202.

The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Casas singled, moved to third on a Ronaldo Hernandez double, and scored on a ground out to third by Hudson Potts.

Binghamton responded with a solo home run by Carlos Rincon in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game.

Portland broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth when a fielding error by Binghamton's second baseman Yoel Romero with the bases loaded led to two runs giving Portland a 3-1 lead.

Jeisson Rosario added a two-run single in the seventh inning to extend the Sea Dogs lead to 5-1.

Victor Santos (4-2) picked up the win holding the Rumble Ponies to one run on five hits over five innings off work. He struck out five and lowered his ERA to 2.89.

Rio Gomez tossed two shutout innings of relief, recording two strikeouts. He has not allowed a run in his last 11 appearances spanning 15.2 innings.

Triston Casas extended his hit streak to eight games with a double in the first inning. He went 2-for-3 on the night with a walk and a run scored.

The Sea Dogs and Rumble Ponies will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 5:00 PM. Radio coverage on the WPEI Sea Dogs Radio Network, built by General Dynamics/ Bath Iron Works, begins at 4:45 PM. The game is also available on MiLB.TV.
