Sea Dogs Winning Streak Extends to Eight Games in Hartford

Hartford, Connecticut – The Portland Sea Dogs extended their winning streak to eight games tonight with a 2-1 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday night at Dunkin’ Donuts Parks. Victor Santos hurled 5.0 perfect innings before allowing two hits in the sixth inning.

Santos lowered his ERA to 2.67 tossing 6.0 innings allowing one run (unearned) on two hits while striking out five. He did not issue a walk. Andrew Politi was awarded the win pitching 2.0 shutout innings allowing one hit while striking out two. Joan Martinez earned his fifth save of the season pitching the ninth inning issuing one walk while striking out two. Martinez has not allowed a run in his last 11 games (13.0 innings).

Pedro Castellanos led off the sixth inning with a home run to right field and the Sea Dogs led, 1-0. It was his 12th long ball of the season.

The Yard Goats answered in the bottom of the inning. An RBI double to left field by Sean Bouchard brought home the tying run of the game for Hartford.

In the top of the eighth inning, Jeisson Rosario leadoff with a double to right field. He then scored on RBI single to left field by Castellanos and the Sea Dogs led 2-1.

The Sea Dogs and Yard Goats face off again tomorrow at 7:05pm at Dunkin’ Donuts Park. LHP Chris Murphy (3-2, 3.86 ERA) will take the mound for Portland while Hartford will send RHP Karl Kauffmann (1-11, 7.40 ERA) to the bump.
