Sea Dogs fall 5-4 in 10 innings

Portland, Maine- he Portland Sea Dogs (25-19) fell 5-4 in 10 innings to the Somerset Patriots (29-15) Thursday night at Hadlock Field. Somerset now leads the Double-A Northeast League Northern Division by four games over the Sea Dogs. Somerset scored the game winning run in the 10th on an RBI

Portland, Maine- he Portland Sea Dogs (25-19) fell 5-4 in 10 innings to the Somerset Patriots (29-15) Thursday night at Hadlock Field. Somerset now leads the Double-A Northeast League Northern Division by four games over the Sea Dogs.

Somerset scored the game winning run in the 10th on an RBI ground out by Matt Pita scoring Michael Beltre. It was the first run (unearned) that Sea Dogs reliever Zack Kelly (1-1) has allowed since May 16th.

Stephen Ridings (3-0) earned the win for Somerset retiring the Sea Dogs in order in the 10th inning.

Portland starter Brayan Bello allowed an RBI triple to Thomas Milne and four walks in the second inning leading to two Somerset runs. Bello was lifted after 1.2 innings of work for reliever Matt Kent

Granberg belted his first Double-A home run in the second inning, a two-run shot to tie the game.

Dermis Garcia his 12th home run of the season in the third inning as Somerset took a 3-2 lead.

Grandberg picked-up his third RBI of the game on an RBI ground out in the bottom of the fourth scoring Hudson Potts to tie the game at three.

Somerset broke the 3-3 tie in the sixth inning taking a 4-3 lead when Michael Beltre scored on a Chase Illig ground out.

Triston Casas led off the eighth inning with a walk, stole second and eventually scored on a Ronaldo Hernandez RBI double as Portland once again tied te game heading into the ninth inning.

The Sea Dogs and Patriots will continue the series Friday night at Hadlock Field, with postgame fireworks, courtesy of Residential Mortgage Services. Righty Frank German (2-3, 5.66) will take the mound for Portland. Somerset will send righty Heyden Wesneski (0-1, 13.50) to the hill.
