NASHVILLE, Tennessee - Helped by some breathing room after a three-run ninth inning, the first-place Memphis Redbirds moved closer to a division championship with a 6-1 win over the Nashville Sounds (Athletics) Saturday night in Nashville.

Memphis improves to 79-41 on the season and has won 33 of its last 43 games. The Redbirds are four wins from tying the franchise record for wins in a season (83, 2000) and three wins shy of matching the franchise record for road wins in a single year (41, 2000).
The Redbirds have lost back-to-back games just once since June 27, spanning 43 games.
Patrick Wisdom hit his 25th home run of the season in the second inning, with the two-run shot giving the Redbirds a 2-0 lead. He is one shy of entering the top-10 in home runs in a season in Redbirds' history. After Nashville got a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1, Stephen Piscotty hit his second home run in three games as a Redbird in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 3-1.
Piscotty added another RBI in a three-run Memphis ninth inning, which also included a Breyvic Valera RBI double and an Alex Mejia sacrifice fly that scored Alberto Rosario .
Luke Weaver won his 10th game of the season with 6.0 innings of three-hit work, allowing just one run while striking out five and walking three. Mark Montgomery tossed 2.0 perfect innings of relief, giving way to Ryan Sherriff who finished the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Wisdom, Piscotty, Valera, Mejia, and Rosario all had two-hit games to lead the 12-hit Memphis barrage.
The Redbirds and the Sounds play game three of their four game series in Music City tomorrow night at 6:35. Memphis returns to AutoZone Park for eight games against Nashville and New Orleans (Marlins) beginning Tuesday.
