FRISCO, Texas (Sept. 3, 2017) - The Frisco RoughRiders welcomed the sixth-largest crowd in franchise history tonight with 11,841 fans packing sold-out Dr Pepper Ballpark against the Midland RockHounds.

The RoughRiders' six largest crowds and 11 of the top 13 have come since 2015, RoughRiders' General Partner & CEO Chuck Greenberg's first full season leading the franchise. Tonight's attendance was the second largest of the season, trailing only the 11,897 fans that turned out to Dr Pepper Ballpark on May 5.

"Tonight's crowd demonstrates once again the explosive growth we've experienced during our first three seasons with the RoughRiders," Greenberg said. "It's a great highlight to the final weekend of the season and reflects the momentum we have built and carrying forward into next season and in the years to come. To have the six largest crowds, and 11 of the top 13, in team history since the beginning of the 2015 season is remarkable."

The Riders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, close the season Monday against the Midland RockHounds (Oakland A's) at 4:05 p.m. There's a special Labor Day edition of the Choctaw Lazy River Pool Party, and for just $39 fans can float the river and enjoy an all-you-can-eat menu. Also, a Dr Pepper Ballpark Stadium Replica Giveaway is in store for the first 1,500 fans through the gates.

Tickets are available at RidersBaseball.com, (972) 731-9200 and the RoughRiders Ticket Office.

About the RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and play their games at beautiful Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 12 seasons (2005-2016). In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. The new ownership group, together with the city of Frisco, has spearheaded numerous major franchise improvements over the past two seasons, investing nearly $8 million in a wide array of facility upgrades and improvements, including a new state-of-the-art HD video board, sound system, Bull Moose Saloon, InTouch Grille, Riders Outpost Team Store and the newest and biggest creation, the 174-foot Choctaw Lazy River. The upgrades made prior to the 2015 season earned the Riders and the City of Frisco "Best Ballpark Renovation" of 2015 by Ballpark Digest. The same publication also honored the Choctaw Lazy River as the best ballpark improvement over $1 million for the 2016 season. More than 140 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball, including All-Stars Chris Davis, Adrian Gonzalez, Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz, as well as current Rangers stars Elvis Andrus, Rougned Odor and Nomar Mazara.
