ROUND ROCK, Texas - Hey now, you're an All-Star! The Pacific Coast League announced on Monday afternoon that Round Rock Express OF Scott Heineman has been added to the league's roster for Wednesday night's 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game in Columbus, Ohio.
Heineman enters the all-star break as one of the team's hottest hitters, having recorded a hit in 10 consecutive games. Since June 29, the speedy outfielder is hitting .488 (21-43) with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored. On the season, he is batting .303 (93-307) with 14 doubles, two triples, nine homers, 47 RBI and 54 runs scored. Heineman currently leads the Express in runs scored and stolen bases (14) and ranks second in at-bats, hits, home runs and RBI.
He was promoted to Round Rock from the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders on April 13 and made his Triple-A debut the following night. At the time of his promotion, Heineman led the Texas League in batting average (.522) and on-base percentage (.613) while ranking second in hits (12) and RBI (10).
This marks Heineman's second career all-star designation as he was previously named to the 2015 California League postseason All-Star team as a member of the Class A-Advanced High Desert Mavericks. Heineman was also named an MilB.com Texas Rangers Organizational All-Star in both 2016 and 2017.
The Rangers drafted Heineman in the 11th round of the 2015 June draft out of the University of Oregon, where he ranks among career top 10 in several offensive categories. He played for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League in 2013 and was named to the league's All-Star Game as well.
The 31st annual Triple-A All-Star Game is set for Wednesday, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. CDT at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers. The game will be broadcast live on MiLB.tv. All-Star festivities begin with the Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby and Skills Competition on Monday, July 9.
