Brown's best start wasted in 3-1 loss

Summary
Richmond left-hander Andrew Suarez struck out seven, allowing only one run in 6.2 innings to lead the Flying Squirrels to a 3-1 win over the RubberDucks at Canal Park on Monday. 

Turning Point
The Flying Squirrels hit three consecutive singles by Jeff Arnold, Slade Heathcott and C.J. Hinojosa to load the bases with one out in the third. Miguel Gómez then grounded into an RBI fielder's choice to get Richmond on the board. A passed ball by catcher Eric Haase would allow Slade Heathcoat to score from third and give Richmond the 2-1 lead.
Winging It
Akron starter D.J. Brown had his best start of the season, going 6.2 solid innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits and striking out five. Richmond starter Andrew Suárez picked up his third win of the season, also tossing 6.2 innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven. Despite Brown's improved start, he was stuck as the losing pitcher. Tyler Cyr picked up his third save of the season for Richmond. The Flying Squirrels' pitching staff combined to strikeout 10 Akron batters on the night.
Duck Tales
The Ducks took the early 1-0 lead when Yu Chang hit an RBI double scoring Mike Papi in the bottom of the first. Catcher Eric Haase hit a two out triple off the left field wall in the seventh. However, Haase would be stranded. The RubberDucks were 0-8 with runners in scoring position on the evening. Richmond would add an insurance run in the seventh with the same formula of three straight singles. Pinch hitter Eliezer Suarez hit an RBI single scoring Ryan Lollis to put Richmond ahead 3-1. 
Notebook
Second baseman Tyler Krieger hit his 10th double of the season… Krieger stole third base in the sixth making him a perfect nine for nine on stolen base attempts, ranking third in the Eastern League… Right-hander Jose Flores who entered in relief in the seventh is a former Akron Aero's player… Flores was a member of Akron in the 2013 season where he recorded 16 saves… Left-hander Luis Lugo was reactivated from the Temporary Inactive list, and right-hander Argenis Angulo was transferred back to Single-A Lynchburg… Time of Game: 2:14…Attendance: 2,417. 
On Deck
Akron and Richmond will continue the three game series on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 10:35 a.m. at Canal Park. Right-hander Nick Pasquale (2-2, 3.38) will take the mound for the RubberDucks against Sam Coonrod (1-3, 4.91) for the Flying Squirrels.Tuesday will be the first of two back-to-back education days at ballpark each with 10:35 a.m. start times.
