Red Sox-Nationals Game Postponed; Doubleheader Thursday at 5:30

April 14, 2009
Salem, VA (April 14, 2009) - Despite a tremendous effort from dawn to dusk by the grounds crew at Lewis-Gale Field, the precipitation of the past 24 hours created a need to postpone tonight's Carolina League contest until Thursday afternoon. The Red Sox and Nationals will play two seven inning games on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 PM.

Potomac took game one of the series on Monday night 8-6, prevailing amidst steady rainfall throughout the final 4-5 innings. With the on and off rain throughout the day, the saturated infield grew soft in spots, prompting the postponement.

Prior to the Thursday doubleheader, the series resumes on Wednesday evening at 7:05, with righty Kyle Weiland expected to make his second start of the season for Salem. Potomac's opening day starter, righthander Erik Arnesen, is scheduled to throw for the Nationals.

As a reminder, all fans that purchased tickets to tonight's game can redeem their tickets from tonight for any regular season 2009 home game. For any additional questions or concerns, please call the ticket office at (540) 389-3333 ext. 2
