Jordyn Adams broke a 5-5 tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Salt Lake Bees (28-30) a 6-5 victory over the Round Rock Express (32-26) on Tuesday night.

After falling behind 1-0 the Bees did most of their damage in the third inning, scoring five runs on three hits in the frame with Taylor Jones providing most of the production with a bases-clearing double. Round Rock clawed back into the game with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and a single run in the sixth to tie things up. Adams stepped up to the plate with two outs and drove the 0-1 pitch over the right field wall for the eventual winning run.

Luis Ledo got the start for the Bees and gave up for runs over five innings of work. Gerardo Reyes took home the win with two scoreless frames, striking out five. Former Riverton High School and Salt Lake Community College star Joe Barlow began an MLB rehab assignment with the Express throwing a scoreless sixth inning.

The Bees and Express will meet for game two of the series on Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. at Smith’s Ballpark.
