Logan Porter’s solo shot and Niko Kavadas’ RBI double helped Salt Lake avoid a shutout as the hosts fell in their ninth consecutive game and third straight home tilt.

Game Summary

Both starters worked around baserunners in the first, keeping things scoreless. Each team traded runs in the second, with Oklahoma City beginning the scoring once again. Two walks and an RBI double put them ahead 1-0. Logan Porter evened the contest with his two-out solo shot off the Comets’ Bobby Miller, making his 2026 debut in an MLB rehab appearance.

The score stayed tied through four innings, thanks to starter Caden Dana’s efforts. The Salt Lake righty retired eight of nine batters between the second and fourth frames, issuing a lone walk. However, after getting two outs, Oklahoma City retook the lead on James Tibbs III’s RBI single and knocked Dana out of the contest. The Comets added three more runs in the frame on a two-run triple and fielding error, grabbing a 5-1 margin.

Oklahoma City posted their second straight four spot, using four hits, a walk, and a sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to 9-1. Kaleb Ort entered for Salt Lake and kept the Comets at bay with two scoreless innings of relief. However, the visitors weren’t done scoring, tagging position player Yolmer Sánchez in the top of the ninth for three runs on five hits to go up 12-1.

Back-to-back hits started the bottom half for Salt Lake, with Niko Kavadas driving home Kyren Paris for a second Bees run. However, the rally stopped there as consecutive strikeouts stranded the bases loaded and Salt Lake suffered their ninth straight loss.

Game Notes

The Bees fell in their ninth consecutive contest, tying the nine-game slide one season ago between May 25 - June 4. Tonight also marked the third straight defeat at home and eight in their last 10 games in South Jordan. Wednesday’s loss is the 60th of the season, and 25th in the second half.
Salt Lake has an extra base hit in 42 straight games, the second longest active streak in the PCL to Round Rock’s 57. They have 154 extra base hits across its 42-game stretch marking the longest streak by a Bees team since a 63-game streak in 2024.
Raudi Rodriguez opened his Triple-A career with hits in consecutive games. Each of his two hits have been singles to the pull side into left field.
Logan Porter levelled the score with his third homer of the season and second with Salt Lake. Both longballs with the Bees have come at home, as Porter last left the yard on the Fourth of July. The catcher has a four game on-base streak and has two extra base hits in August (double, homer).
A third inning walk extended Kyren Paris’ on-base streak to 23 games. He is tied with Sacramento’s Turner Hill for the PCL’s third longest active stretch. A ninth inning single allowed Paris to extend his hit streak to three games. He scored on Niko Kavadas’ double to mark back-to-back games with a run.
Cade Marlowe marked hits in consecutive games accounting for three of the Bees eight hits. He now owns a nine game on-base streak, a stretch in which he holds a .980 OPS. The outfielder stole second in that trip, his third swipe with Salt Lake and 27th this season. In 10 games with the Bees, Marlowe has two multi-hit ledgers (July 25 vs. Omaha and tonight) and has reached in nine of the 10 contests. Tonight marked Marlowe’s first three-hit performance since a 3-for-5 effort against Salt Lake here in South Jordan on July 3 with Las Vegas.
Arol Vera has hits in three straight games, all coming since being activated off the developmental list. Over his last seven contests, Vera is batting 8-for-26 (.308) with two doubles and three walks.
Niko Kavadas went 1-for-4 with an RBI double, hitting safely in four straight games. Over his last seven games, Kavadas is batting .391 (9-for-23) with two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI and has a 1.326 OPS during that stretch.
Caden Dana struck out four in his start today and is two shy of reaching 150 in his Triple-A career. The righty fired 4.2 innings, allowed four runs, and walked five over his 100-pitch outing Wednesday.
Rob Kaminsky pitched in his second straight game, recording a single out in each outing. Tonight, the lefty threw nine pitches and yielded an unearned run on one hit.
Sammy Peralta fired one inning of work, surrendering four runs on four hits. It is the most runs he has given up in a single outing since joining the Bees, and most allowed at any point in 2026 since he was an Albuquerque Isotope and gave up six runs (five earned) on June 3 in Salt Lake.
Kaleb Ort spun two scoreless innings tonight, his longest scoreless outing since July 1 vs. Las Vegas (also two innings). Ort bounced back nicely after a rough week in Sugar Land where he allowed five earned runs in 0.1 innings across two appearances. The right hander has yet to yield an earned run in the second half at home, spanning nine innings of work.
