Game Summary

Sacramento’s offense came out firing, plating runs in each of the first four innings to open game two of the series. The River Cats struck first when Will Brennan delivered a two-out RBI single in the first to score Bryce Eldridge, then added another in the second on a Thomas Gavello RBI to make it 2–0. A pair of doubles in the third, capped by Grant McCray’s RBI knock, pushed the lead to 3–1.

The Dirty Sodas answered right back, as Nelson Rada drove in a run in the second and Chris Taylor followed with an RBI knock in the third to trim the deficit to 3–2.

Sacramento broke things wide open in the fourth, sending 11 hitters to the plate with the first five reaching base. Two bases-loaded walks, a two-run double from McCray, and an RBI single by Eric Haase stretched the lead to 9–2.

The Dirty Sodas showed life in the sixth, scoring three runs behind Vaughn Grissom’s two-run double to left to cut it to a four-run game.

In the next half inning, Thomas Gavello delivered the knockout blow, launching the River Cats’ first home run of the season—a solo shot to left—to help seal a 10–5 victory Wednesday night, evening the series at one game apiece.

Game Notes

  • The Dirty Sodas fell to 1-4 on the season making them one of three teams in the PCL to have only one win through the first five games of the 2026 season (Round Rock, Albuquerque).

  • The Dirty Sodas struck out a season-high 12 times while the pitching staff allowed a season-most 14 hits. It marked the third time through five games the team has allowed double-digit run totals.

  • Vaughn Grissom became the third player with the club to post a three-hit game this season, joining Donovan Walton (3/27) and Jose Siri (3/31). Grissom added two RBI to his line with a double in his second on his Major League rehab assignment.

  • Christian Moore walked four times tonight, marking the first time a Bee accomplished that feat since Ryan Noda did so against Oklahoma City on April 27, 2025 in South Jordan. His walk total on Wednesday night also a professional career-high surpassing his previous number of three set on April 23, 2025 with Rocket City.

  • Denzer Guzman stayed hot at the plate, recording a hit for the third consecutive game and notching his second multi-hit performance, tying Jose Siri for the team lead in hits. Guzman also crossed the plate for the third straight game, matching the team lead in runs scored.

  • Nelson Rada continued his scorching start to the series, tallying his second straight multi-hit game while scoring for the third consecutive contest and driving in a run for the second game in a row. He has now reached base in all four games he’s played so far this season.
