The Salt Lake Bees managed just five hits and dropped a 6-3 decision to the El Paso Chihuahuas on Thursday night. Salt Lake starter Jake Lee (0-2) was touched for a run in the first and three more in the third for a 4-0 lead, their first of the series. The Bees would start to chip away with an unearned run in the fourth, as Kean Wong scored on a throwing error by pitcher Pedro Avila. They would add another run in the sixth, as Anthony Mulrine doubled, moved to third on a single by Jake Palomaki and scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Wong.
The Bees closed to within a run in the seventh, as Jake Gatewood singled, advanced to second and then to third on a pair of wild pitches and scored on a sacrifice fly by Orlando Martinez. That would be as close as they would get, as El Paso added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning. Luis Ledo and Ryan Smith each threw a pair of shutout innings with neither allowing a hit.
