The Salt Lake Bees dropped their third consecutive contest, falling to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 8-1 Saturday night at Smith's Ballpark.
Colorado Springs plated a run two batters into the game as Kyle Wren lined a leadoff triple and scored on Mauricio Dubón's groundout and the Sky Sox tacked on insurance runs in the second, sixth, eighth, and ninth innings. Jefry Marte led the Bees with two hits before exiting the game in the sixth inning, and Michael Hermosillo tripled to left-center in the eighth for his first Triple-A hit and scored on Cameron Maybin's sacrifice fly. Maybin went 0-for-3 with an RBI in the second game of his rehab stint.
Luis Diaz (4-10) got the start for Salt Lake and took the loss, allowing five earned runs in five-plus innings. José Álvarez retired all three batters he faced in the sixth, Adam Hofacket worked a scoreless seventh, Damien Magnifico pitched the eighth, and Jason Gurka recorded the final three outs for the Bees.
With Albuquerque's loss to Round Rock, the Bees remain one game ahead of the Isotopes in the Pacific Coast League's Pacific Southern Division. Salt Lake and Colorado Springs conclude their series Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. For tickets and additional information, visit slbees.com.
