Suarez Debut Spoiled by El Paso

The El Paso Chihuahuas score the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth in a 6-5 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Sunday afternoon.

After Matt Ramsey fanned the first two batters of the inning, Michael Gettys reached on an infield single and advance to third on a single by Luis Urías. A wild pitch by Ramsey (0-2) on an 0-2 pitch brought home Gettys with the winning run. Salt Lake led 2-0 going into the bottom of the eighth before El Paso scored five runs to take the lead, the last three on a home run by Austin Allen.
The Bees would rally to tie it up in the top of the ninth. With one out, Wilfredo Tovar singled. Erick Salcedo followed with a ground ball that was both booted and thrown away by Chihuahuas second baseman Peter Van Gansen. Tovar would score on a sacrifice fly by Matt Thaiss. After a Jose Rojas single, Jared Walsh double to center to bring home Salcedo to get Salt Lake to within one. With runners at second and third. El Paso pitcher Luis Perdomo was called for a balk, which allowed Rojas to score the tying run.
Salt Lake starter Jose Suarez made his 2019 debut and tossed five scoreless innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Walsh led the Bees with a pair of doubles and one run batted in, while Wilfredo Tovar added two singles and two runs scored.
