SAN ANTONIO -San Antonio Missions starting pitcher Aaron Wilkerson has been named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for May 13-19, the league announced today.
Wilkerson made two appearances during the week and allowed just one earned run in 10.1 innings of work. On May 14 at New Orleans the right-hander went 4.1 innings and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out a pair of batters. On Sunday Wilkerson fanned seven Memphis Redbirds over the course of six innings and earned his second win of the season. He allowed just one unearned run and two hits on the day.
In five starts for San Antonio this season Wilkerson is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.68 in 26.2 innings while sporting a WHIP of 0.75. Opponents are batting a mere.152 against him on the year.
Wilkerson becomes the first ever Missions player to garner weekly honors in the Pacific Coast League and the first weekly award winner since the week of May 28-June 3, 2018 when Jason Jester and Logan Allen were named Texas League co-Pitchers of the Week. It is the sixth Pitcher of the Week award of Wilkerson's career and first at the Triple-A level.
