Missions announce partnership with The Golf Club of Texas

GCT becomes The Official Golf Course for the 13-time Texas League Champs
February 23, 2016

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions are excited to announce a two-year marketing partnership with The Golf Club of Texas.

The Golf Club of Texas, located at 13600 Briggs Ranch in San Antonio, reopened its doors last August after a $7 million renovation. The course, which originally opened in 1999, was purchased by Perry Properties and renovated by course architect Roy Bechtol.

Highlighting the many improvements made to the course are the significant changes to the playing surface. The Golf Club of Texas is the only golf course in the United States to feature green to tee Zoysia grass. Zoysia, golf's premier playing turf, is chosen by the most exclusive courses in the world.

Golfers can also take advantage of two refurbished practice greens, a short game area with bunker and a driving range. The Golf Club of Texas also possesses an event center, perfect for weddings, receptions, parties, Quinceaneras and business meetings.

"We are excited about this unique partnership with our neighbors, the San Antonio Missions," said Ruffin Moore, the Director of Club Operations for The Golf Clubs of Texas. "The Missions are a staple in our community. I can't think of a better day for a family than playing 18 holes of golf before taking in a Missions game at Wolff Stadium. I believe everyone will benefit from this relationship."

In addition to being "The Official Golf Course of the San Antonio Missions", The Golf Club of Texas will also host the 15th annual Missions CARE Golf Tournament on May 11. The tournament is a major fundraiser for the Missions Rookie League, a summer baseball program for inner-city youth.

"We're very excited about this partnership with The Golf Club of Texas," said Missions President Burl Yarbrough. "GCT has done a tremendous job with its renovation. We feel like the partnership will help both of us further grow our brands."

The Golf Club of Texas has also announced that its full restaurant and bar will now be dubbed "The Missions Grill."
