"What's New" to Municipal Stadium in 2017

Muni celebrates #DiamondSeason with brand-new HD videoboard and Our Town Campaign

April 7, 2017 8:29 PM ET

The San Jose Giants launched their Diamond Season, celebrating both 75 years of baseball at Municipal Stadium and 30 years of affiliation with the San Francisco Giants, by unveiling several new and exciting improvements and promotions to the ballpark. Since 1942, the Municipal Stadium has offered a unique fan experience for both families and baseball fanatics to come and enjoy great food, fascinating promotions and of course watch the San Francisco Giants homegrown prospects since 1988.

To honor 75 years of baseball at Muni, the San Jose Giants looked for fresh ways to say, "thank you" to the more than 7 million fans who have walked through the gates. The #OurTown promotion has increased the San Jose Giants presence all over the South Bay Area, and promises a different promotion each night of the week, including Staff and Faculty Mondays, Taste of Muni Tuesdays, We Care Wednesdays, Beer Taster Thursdays, Fireworks Fridays, Giant Giveaway Saturdays and Alliance Credit Union Kids Eat Free Sundays.

In a very literal sense, the biggest change fans will notice at the ballpark this season is the brand-new HD videoboard in the outfield. Measuring 26' wide by 36' and broadcasting high lumen and high definition images, the new videoboard will ensure fans don't miss any of the dramatic action happening on the field. Adding to the excitement will be an all-new roaming "Fan Cam", which will pioneer original promotions and capture even more priceless memories of fans at the games.

"This offseason's focus was to discover how to both honor the tremendous history of 75 years of baseball in San Jose while also looking towards the future," said Daniel Orum, San Jose Giants President and CEO. "I think when fans walk through the Municipal Stadium gates this year, they're going to be impressed by the renovations our team has made to ensure the San Jose Giants baseball experience remains one of the best entertainment options in all the South Bay."

Fans will also notice a change inside the concourse of Municipal Stadium. In addition to a gleaming new floor, digital menu boards and smart HDTVs have been added to make it even easier to order food, explore upcoming promotions and catch up with local sports action.

New food options to Gigante's alley include the Strike Brewing Co. Beer Stand, which adds two more enticing local craft brews to the Municipal Stadium lineup. Furthermore, as part of the Taste of Muni Tuesdays, the satellite concession stands will be serving up unique, savory concoctions all season long.

Heading further down the left field line, four new televisions and fun-filled patio games have been added to the City National Futures Clubs. In addition to a updated craft brew lineup, these changes will give fans all they desire in one location for their group packages.

In the concourse, fans will appreciate the new luxury box seats located directly behind home plate. Padded seats and personal cup holders will give the die-hard baseball fan a perfect view to witness all the action up close from a comfortable box seat.

For fans who can't make it out to the ballpark, the San Jose Giants and Comcast have once again collaborated to bring fans LIVE television broadcasts during the 2017 season. This year, the organization is broadcasting 27 games, with special color commentator Kevin Frandsen appearing on the air April 14 and April 15.
