A's trade another 2013 Snapper to Nationals

November 25, 2013

The Oakland Athletics have just traded one of the best all-around players that played on the 2013 Beloit Snappers. They have traded outfielder/utility infielder John Wooten to the Washington Nationals for LHP Fernando Abad. Wooten was drafted in the 37th round (1129th overall) in 2012 by the Oakland Athletics out of East Carolina University.

Wooten greatly contributed to the Beloit Snappers' first half Midwest League championship team that ended up going 77-62. The Snappers ended up losing in the Midwest League semifinals to the eventual champions, the Quad Cities River Bandits (Houston Astros affiliate). This past season Wooten batted .257 with 20 homeruns and 69 RBIs. The A's will be getting LHP Fernando Adab, who had a 3.35 ERA in 39 relief appearances for the Washington Nationals last season. This trade comes after the A's traded then Snapper, RHP Dakota Bacus, midseason to the Washington Nationals for catcher, Kurt Suzuki.

The Snappers will open their 2014 season as Beloit hosts the Burlington Bees April 3, 2014 at Pohlman Field; first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm. For additional information or tickets call the Snappers Office at (608) 362-2272.
