The Snappers and Cougars endured a whacky afternoon at Pohlman Field that included six total errors while both teams collected 19 runs on 20 hits. Beloit committed five errors, the most in a single game for Beloit since a seven-error game on May 12, 2016. The Snappers are now in the midst of their longest losing streak of the year with six straight defeats after a Midwest League-leading 31st one-run ballgame. Beloit had the tying run 90-feet away with two outs in the eighth inning.
Beloit led 2-0 after four innings were complete when Edwin Diaz knocked home two runs with a single. Kane County countered with three in the fifth that was highlighted by a two-run home run from Luis Silverio that put the Cougars ahead 3-2.
The ballgame came unhinged during the sixth inning. The Cougars brought home seven runs in the sixth inning with the help of four extra-base hits to bring runs home. Those hits included two-run doubles by Manny Jefferson and Adam Walton along with a little-league home run off the bat of Anfernee Grier, which was scored as a triple and he came home after a throwing error by JaVon Shelby. That moment turned out to be the difference in the ballgame as the Snappers stormed back with seven unanswered runs. The Beloit rally started when Diaz legged out an inside-the-park home run into left field that fooled the Kane County fielder and rolled to the wall.
Beloit manager Scott Steinman was ejected in the bottom of the seventh for arguing with home plate umpire Donnie Smith. With Trace Loehr batting with the bases loaded, the infielder hit a fly ball into the left field corner that was ruled foul to begin the altercation. All of those runners and Loehr would still score when he cleared the bases on an infield single followed by a wild throw from Cougars third basemen Ramon Hernandez. Loehr then scored on a groundout from Luke Persico, who collected his team-leading 45th RBI.
