For the first time since 2005, the South Bend baseball franchise has won a Midwest League Championship. On Saturday night in Downtown Clinton, the South Bend Cubs shutout the Clinton LumberKings by a final of 5-0 win clinch the title. After the final pitch was thrown by Brian Glowicki, the celebration immediately began.
The South Bend franchise is in a position it has not been in since September of 2005. In a dramatic 3-2 extra innings win over the Clinton LumberKings in game two of the Midwest League Championship Series, the Cubs now give themselves an opportunity to win the title on Saturday night in Clinton, Iowa.
With Chicago Cubs right-hander Kendall Graveman making the game one start in the Midwest League Championship Series, the South Bend Cubs battled against the Clinton LumberKings in a pitcher's duel and earned a very important 3-1 win to open the five-game set.

For the second consecutive series, the South Bend Cubs will head on the road for game two with a win already in hand. After sweeping Bowling Green earlier this week in two games, the Cubs defeated the Great Lakes Loons by a final of 6-4 on Saturday night from Four Winds Field to win their third consecutive playoff game.

The Cubs will host Game 1 on Saturday, September 7 at Four Winds Field. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
After playing Bowling Green in the final three regular season games, the two Eastern Division foes linked up once again on Wednesday night to kick off the postseason. In a 2-1 win, South Bend squeezed out the game one victory and now the club takes the 1-0 series lead in the best of three.
Playoff baseball will be returning to Four Winds Field for the first time since 2016. In a 6-4 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps to close out their three game series, the South Bend Cubs punched their ticket to the postseason thanks to a strong performance on the field and some help from the West Michigan Whitecaps. Since West Michigan beat Lansing, the Lugnuts were eliminated from playoff contention.
