Springfield, MO - Monday's scheduled doubleheader between the Springfield Cardinals and the Tulsa Drillers at Hammons Field has been canceled due to field conditions. The games will not be made up, as Monday night was the conclusion of the First Half of the season.
Although the field conditions improved drastically after 10 inches of rain fell on Saturday, followed by torrential rain throughout the night on Sunday and periods of rain on Monday, the infield was too saturated to have the players safely take the field. The Cardinals Grounds Crew has been working tirelessly to try to get the field safe enough to play on, but the moisture underneath the top layer of the infield remained too great.
Despite every intention and effort to get the games in, the safety, future and development of the players on both teams is the paramount consideration. The Cardinals and the Drillers organizations thank everyone for their patience throughout the delay.
Tickets from the canceled June 17, 2013 game against the Tulsa Drillers may be exchanged for any remaining regular season game during the 2013 season. Tickets must be mailed or presented in person to the Cardinals Ticket Office, located at Gate 1 at Hammons Field, at anytime during the remainder of the 2013 season. Complimentary tickets are not exchangeable.
