Springfield, MO - The Frisco RoughRiders claimed the 7-4 win against the Springfield Cardinals before 3,764 fans at Hammons Field on Monday night, avoiding the sweep after the Cardinals claimed the first two games of the series. Springfield closed the homestand going 4-2 on the week.

The RoughRiders (9-9, 40-48) came out swinging in the top of the first against RHP Matt Pearce. With one away, LF Scott Heineman tripled himself aboard. DH Luke Tendler promptly followed with an RBI single, bringing in Tendler for the game's first run. Pearce, however, dug in and induced a double play ball from the next batter, RF Michael O'Neill, getting out of the bases-loaded jam with the RoughRiders only leading, 1-0.

Frisco padded the lead with a solo home run from Tendler in the third, before adding a third run in the fourth. 1B Eric Aguilera doubled to open the fourth inning and moved to third base on a groundout to short. CF Jose Cardona then placed an RBI single to shallow right-center field, bringing in Aguilera to extend the Frisco lead to 3-0.

The Cardinals (10-8, 45-43), though, broke through in the bottom of the fourth against LHP Yohander Méndez (W, 6-6). 2B Darren Seferina sparked the rally with a leadoff single. One out later, Seferina scored all the way from first base on an RBI double from 3B Jacob Wilson to right field. After RF Anthony García reached on a walk, the RoughRiders got Garcia to start a rundown between first and second when he broke on a pitch too soon. While the RoughRiders were chasing Garcia in between first and second, Wilson tried to dart home from third. However, Frisco adjusted and went after Wilson, retiring him between third and the plate. While the RoughRiders nabbed Wilson on the bases, Garcia advanced around to third base. With one on and two down, 1B John Nogowski worked a walk to keep the inning alive. C Gabriel Lino then lasered a three-run home run to left field, catapulting the Cardinals into the 4-3 lead.

Pearce capped his outing with a scoreless sixth inning of work, but the RoughRiders rallied against LHP Corey Littrell (L, 0-2) in the top of the seventh. 2B Andy Ibáñez worked a walk to start the inning, before Littrell dug in with consecutive outs. With one on and two away, Heineman was hit by a pitch, putting two men on. Tendler and C Jose Trevino then connected on consecutive RBI singles, scoring Ibanez and Heineman and lifting the RoughRiders back in front, 5-4.

The RoughRiders stretched their lead against RHP Dailyn Martinez in the top of the eighth. With one away, CF Jose Cardona singled and 2B Andy Ibanez walked, putting two runners on. Both then scored when 3B Luis Marté rifled a two-run triple to right field, opening the Frisco advantage to 7-4.

RoughRiders RHP Reed Garrett and RHP Ricardo Rodríguez (S, 2) combined to toss two scoreless frames in the eighth and ninth, closing the RoughRiders 7-4 win.
