Frisco, TX - The Frisco RoughRiders took the middle game of the series with a 4-1 win against the Springfield Cardinals before 7,343 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Monday night.

The RoughRiders (7-4, 38-43) jumped in front with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third against RHP Chris Ellis (L, 0-4). With the bases loaded and two away, C Jose Trevino placed a two-run single up the middle, bringing in SS Michael De Leon and 2B Isiah Kiner-Falefa for the 2-0 advantage.

Frisco added to the lead with two more tallies in the bottom of the sixth. 3B Juremi Profar and RF Royce Bolinger led off with consecutive singles to put runners at the corners. SS Michael De Leon then reached on a fielding error charged to SS Tommy Edman with Profar darting home and Bolinger moving to second base on the play. A base hit from Kiner-Falefa loaded the bases, before CF Jose Cardona skied an RBI sacrifice fly to center field, bringing in Bolinger for the 4-0 RoughRiders lead.

Frisco RHP Collin Wiles (W, 7-4) dealt seven scoreless innings to keep the Cardinals (5-6, 40-41) at bay, but Springfield broke through against RHP Connor Sadzeck in the top of the eighth. LF Casey Turgeon led off with a walk and quickly stole second base. Sadzeck battled back with consecutive strikeouts, but then hit RF Randy Arozarena to extend the inning with runners at first and second base. CF Magneuris Sierra then laced an RBI single to left-center field, bringing in Turgeon from second base to shave the deficit to 4-1.

After a scoreless bottom of the eighth from RHP Pedro Echemendia, the Cardinals attempted a ninth-inning comeback. Facing LHP Joe Filomeno, 3B Jacob Wilson blasted a base hit off the left field fence to start the stanza. 2B Bruce Caldwell followed with a walk, putting two runners on and leading to RHP Ricardo Rodríguez (S, 1) taking over on the mound. Rodriguez quickly induced a double play, before slamming the door with a fly out to right field, closing the 4-1 win for Frisco.
