(SUGAR LAND, Texas) – The Houston Astros on Friday selected the contract of Sugar Land Space Cowboys catcher Korey Lee, who is ranked as the team’s No. 2 prospect, per MLBPipeline.

Lee has hit .226 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI through 64 games with the Space Cowboys this season. Over his last 13 games, he is hitting .320 (16x50) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 14 RBI. He has made 40 starts at catcher, as well as two appearances in left field this season.

The Astros selected Lee in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft from the University of California, Berkeley.

Lee is set to make his Major League debut with his first appearance. He would become the third Space Cowboys player to make his MLB debut this season, joining JJ Matijevic and Parker Mushinski.

Baseball America rated Lee as the No. 70 prospect in baseball in its 2022 preseason rankings.
